What is Graphene?

Graphene is graphite (carbon) that has been processed into a layer one atom thick. This layer consists of carbon atoms arranged in a honeycomb pattern that forms an almost transparent sheet with some incredible properties. At the molecular level, it is 200 times stronger than steel, yet six times lighter and flexible.

How is a graphene coating made?

Graphene on its own cannot form a coating, it is chemically inert and non-reactive, so it has to be processed in a very specific way so that it can form a coating that it can adhere to a finish.

Through our chemical production process, we refine graphene into a product called "Graphene Oxide". This graphene oxide is now a one atom thick layer of carbon atoms, but we are not finished yet. We take this graphene oxide and refine it further, removing all impurities and adding more molecules that we can use so that it can bond to the vehicle.

Why is graphene called a ceramic coating?

Graphene alone does not form a coating. Graphene is a flat non-reactive (2D) plane, it will not bond with other things. Graphene coatings are graphene oxide coatings grafted onto the ceramic backbone. If you look at the graphene oxide image, the tails you see sticking up are what is grafted onto the ceramic molecule. The ceramic molecule binds with the car, and the graphene part of the molecule is on top, forming the surface of the coating.

How to maintain?

The maintenance for the two types of coating technologies is very similar, and the use of SiO2-based protection is still perfectly acceptable, as our Nano Spray Sealant still contains SiO2-based ingredients, these products will work well with each other.

The Graphene+ Coating also makes it easier to wash your car as dirt will literally fall off when you rinse and the super hydrophobic properties will also make drying easier as water disappears from the surface quickly.
